The Basque Country enjoys a significant degree of political autonomy, and its Government is responsible for most public initiatives, such as Education, Culture, Health, Employment, the Environment and Industry.

In addition, as a result of its historical rights, it has a great deal of legislative and executive freedom in relation to taxes and finance, which gives the Basque Country the authority to set and collect many of the taxes in the region. Therefore, it has its own Treasury.
