The removal of barriers to the free movement of people and services between the member states of the European Union means for the nationals of the EU 27, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, the ability to perform a profession, either employed or self-employed, in a member state other than the one in which the professional qualifications were obtained.
This recognition is exclusively for professional purposes, or in other words leads to the authorisation of the performance of a specific regulated profession in the recipient State. It does not generally have any effect in the academic area.
